.Jummah Mubarak.

This is my collection of the Friday sermons (khutbahs). (DISCLAIMER: I don't take notes during the actual lecture, so this is just a summary of what I remember, plus a mix of my personal sentiment, and probably a dash of other lectures I've heard in the past.) If I err (misquote, misunderstand, etc.) it's all from me and anything good is from God. So with anything, take the good, leave the bad, and enjoy!

Keys, Loneliness, & Being Real

Imam H @ Masjid a-I with examples corroborated by Sister A

Don't Lose your Keys!
For everything in our life there is a corrosponding key.
For example, the key to prayer is the sunnah prayers. The sunnah prayers get you reved up, prepared, and in the right mode to enter the obligatory prayers.

The key to Heaven is loving the Poor.
Who are the Poor? They are not soley the people lacking wealth, they are also the depressed and depraved--yet they are the ones who truely remain patient. They are the ones who pray passionately and rely soley on their Lord. These are the people who you want to love and serve. These are the people who's company you should seek because God they constantly call upon God and God is with them.

On Loneliness
Most peoples' worst fear is to be alone. In order to avoid solitude constantly we get into relationships, live with families, engage in a million and one activities etc. You come into this world alone and you leave it alone. But you are never really alone if you have God consciousness. So seek to be in the company of your Lord.

Be Real
We may pray, we may fast, we may love--but in the end it may be empty and fake. The Prophet Muhammad (saws) he prayed, he fasted, he loved. He was real. He was and is the greatest human being, yet he recognized his humanity. When he stood before the Lord, he could not but testify, "There is no God but Allah."

May we pray real prayers, not imitation ones. May we fast real fasts, not imitation ones. May we love real love, not the cheap imitation. May we embody the humanity, the essence, and the realness of the Prophet. Insha'Allah. Ameen.
